INMA Media Subscriptions Summit is the news media industry's largest annual conference focused on subscription growth. In February 2024 in New York, we will meet for the seventh time.
The summit has three parts: a two-day leaders’ conference, a day of practical workshops, and an optional executive study tour.
We expect 250+ media professionals. Most of our participants are marketing, product, data and editorial executives, managers and senior specialists working in the reader revenue space.
We invite 40+ speakers on our stages – from the media industry pioneers to leaders and innovators, from academic researchers to consumer marketing experts and thought leaders.
The Financial District of New York, also known as FiDi, represents the southern-most tip of Lower Manhattan, and the 2024 Media Subscriptions Summit Week represents the first time INMA has held an event in this neighbourhood.
Wall Street and One World Trade Center are the pillars of the Financial District, but there is so much to see in such a small geography.
Here are the INMA team’s favourite tourist venues in the Financial District:
Brief history: Today’s Financial District was the centerpiece of New Amsterdam, founded in 1624 – and renamed New York in 1664 when the English took over the city from the Dutch. The early skyscrapers blossomed in the Financial District in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. As vertical cities came to dominate the Financial District, its prominence was shattered by the terrorist attacks on the original World Trade Center buildings on September 11, 2001 – with the rebirth and reinvigoration since then a testament to the fortitude of New Yorkers.
Warmth in winter: Unique to the part of the Financial District INMA will occupy during the Media Subscriptions Summit Week – especially in winter – is how connected the Conrad New York Downtown and Dotdash Meredith Center are to shopping, dining, and tourism. You can navigate underground and over streets without stepping outside. INMA will be on the western side of the Financial District.
A note from Greg Piechota
Dear Colleague,
As someone who has worn the hats of a journalist, executive, and researcher over the years, I have experienced and admired our shared dedication to journalism.
And now, as the lead of the Readers First Initiative at INMA, I'm committed to safeguarding that passion in the era of AI disruption.
Here's the deal. I'd love for you to join us at the 7th INMA Media Subscriptions Summit Week in New York from February 26th to March 1st, 2024.
It's a great opportunity for all of us to figure out our place and strategy in the emerging landscape of AI-driven disruption and unavoidable digital transformation of premium journalism, subscription products, and marketing.
Across the world, we're seeing an uptick in news avoidance because of information overload and fears of misinformation, with AI chatbots, search engines and social networks increasingly appealing to the masses.
As a community, we need to figure out how to respond, all while upholding the value of true journalism and strength of our brands’ direct relationship with audiences — because let's face it, that's why we're here.
This is the moment to double down on subscriptions, the model less dependent on reach and casual users referred by search or bots in social.
In New York, the capital city of the world’s media and the home to The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and other iconic brands, we'll also talk about leveraging AI ourselves to better serve our readers, and better market journalism.
As always at INMA, expect practical case studies, hand-curated by me, with results proven by evidence, hard-to-come insights, benchmarks, provocative opinions, and authentic passion on stage and in the auditorium (for the first time, at the Dotdash Meredith Center in Downtown New York).
This is a perfect chance for us to come together, discuss new ideas, learn from each other, and demonstrate the collective power of human intelligence. We will have fun, too — try that, ChatGPT!
In the end, we're not just dealing with machines — we're paving the way for the future of our democracies and societies, and our news brands within.
Looking forward to catching up and brainstorming some brilliant ideas in New York. Don’t forget your hat and a scarf. Our welcome will be warm, but the world out there — cold.
