ASK
AT THE
BOOTH

Everything people ask us before they book, answered plainly. If your question isn’t here, a real person on the INMA team is at the bottom of this page — we answer within one business day

The basics

What exactly is the World Congress? +
The 97th Annual INMA World Congress of News Media is a five-day gathering of senior news media leaders from around the world. This year's event takes place in New York City, with two days of study tours followed by the main Media Conference, special events, and the Global Media Awards.
When and where is it? +
April 26–30, 2027, in New York City. The Media Conference is at The TimesCenter, 242 W 41st Street. Seminars are at Lincoln Center, the welcome reception is at the Rainbow Room, and the awards dinner is at Capitale. Full venue details
Who attends, and is it right for me? +
Chief executives, publishers, editors, and the heads of product, revenue, marketing, data, and technology at news media companies — plus the solution providers serving them. If you make or influence company-level decisions about where your business goes next, you are in the right room.
Do I need to be an INMA member? +
No. Non-members are welcome, though members pay a lower rate — often enough of a difference that joining first costs less overall. Ask us to run the numbers for your team size and we will tell you which way is cheaper.
What language is the congress in? +
English throughout, with no simultaneous translation. Presentations are shared afterwards so nothing depends on catching every word live.

Registration and pricing

What does registration include? +
The two-day Media Conference, the welcome reception, all refreshments and lunches on conference days, access to the networking lounge, and the presentations afterwards. Study tours, seminars, and the awards dinner are added on — you build the week you want rather than paying for all of it.
Is there a group or team rate? +
Yes. Rates improve as you add colleagues from the same company, and teams get more out of the week than individuals do — different people cover different seminars, then compare notes. Email us with a headcount for a quote.
When does early registration close? +
Registration opens September 2026 with the early rate held into the new year. Exact deadlines are published with the rate card — get on the list and we will tell you before it moves.
Can I transfer or cancel my place? +
A registration can be transferred to a colleague at no charge up to a week before the Congress. Cancellations are refundable up to the published deadline, less an administration fee; after that the place can still be transferred. Tell us early and we will make it work.
How do I pay, and can I get an invoice? +
Card at checkout, or bank transfer against an invoice if your finance team needs one. Ask and we will issue an invoice with whatever purchase-order reference you need on it.

On site

What should I wear? +
Business casual for the conference and study tours — you will be walking between buildings, so comfortable shoes matter more than a jacket. The awards dinner is a step up: cocktail attire.
How do I meet people if I'm coming alone? +
Most people come alone. The study tours are the fastest introduction — two days with the same forty people. Beyond that, the lounge, the small-group "Ask Me Anything" sessions, and the reception are built for it. Tell us what you are working on and we will point you at the right two or three delegates.
Will sessions be recorded or shared? +
Presentations are shared with delegates afterwards. Some sessions are held off the record at the speaker's request so they can be candid about numbers — those are marked in the programme and not recorded.
Can I bring a guest to the awards dinner? +
Yes — guest tickets for the Global Media Awards dinner at Capitale can be added to your registration, subject to space. Add them early; the room has a hard limit.
Dietary requirements or accessibility needs? +
Tell us at registration or email us any time before the week. Every venue is accessible; we will confirm specifics for the study tour buildings on request.

Tours & seminars

Can I do both study tour routes? +
No — the Red and Blue routes run at the same time on the same two days. Pick one. If you are travelling with colleagues, split up and compare notes over dinner. Compare the routes
How many seminars can I attend? +
One. All six run in parallel on Friday at Lincoln Center, so choose the one closest to what you own. Materials from the others are shared afterwards.
Are study tour seats really capped? +
Forty per route, and that is the host companies' limit rather than ours — a briefing stops working past a certain room size. They are usually the first thing to sell out.
Can I speak or propose a speaker? +
Yes. The agenda is shaped by the INMA community and submissions close in January 2027. We look for specifics — a decision you made, what it cost, what happened. Not a product pitch.
How do I sponsor or exhibit? +
Five tiers, from Platinum through Bronze plus media partnerships, each with a different level of presence in the lounge and the programme. See current partners, then email Erin below.

Travel & visas

I need a visa invitation letter. +
Register first, then email us with the exact spelling on your passport, your passport number, and your company details. We turn letters around within two business days. Start early — US appointment waits can run to months in some countries.
Which airport should I fly into? +
JFK has the most international routes and reaches Midtown in about fifty minutes on the AirTrain plus the E. Newark is often cheaper from Europe; LaGuardia is closest but mostly domestic.
Does INMA book my hotel? +
No — you book direct. We list eleven hotels within a two-to-eleven minute walk of The TimesCenter so you are staying where everyone else is. See the list. Late April is peak season; book early.
How do I get around during the week? +
Tap any contactless card or phone at the turnstile — no ticket, and a week of rides caps automatically. Every venue is a short walk or one train from the next, so you will not need a cab.
What is the weather in late April? +
Mild and changeable — roughly 12–20°C (54–68°F), with rain possible. Bring a light coat and an umbrella you do not mind losing.
